Choir Director

With a tradition of choir conducting in the family [her father conducts a Welsh male voice choir, and his father conducted too], it’s no surprise that Laura has a passion for directing choirs. She has directed and coached vocal ensembles for fifteen years, helping singers aged 4 to 80!

Her exciting background, from her time in Classical music as a choral exhibitioner at Cambridge University, and also from her jazz training, gives her a unique approach. She focuses on play, improvisation and listening techniques to get the best out of choirs.

Laura is a dynamic and creative leader of vocal projects. She has led singing groups and team-building projects for charities and public and private companies. When colleagues sing together, they listen and communicate better, find quicker solutions to challenges and see benefits to their mental health.

Laura’s notable clients include Standard and Poor's, Essex County Council and University Hospitals Birmingham. If you would like Laura to organise a team building vocal project or a worker’s choir for your company or business, please contact us.

It’s well-researched that singing in a group can improve your physical and mental well-being and help you feel connected to a community. Laura loves letting everyone know how singing can make you feel great!

She is the brainchild and conductor of ‘Sutton Songsters’, a new and growing community choir for all in North Birmingham, which focuses on well being through singing. The choir sings songs from pop to Classical, gospel to jazz. For beginners and seasoned singers, at Sutton Songsters you will learn how to sing better, make new friends and feel great. We welcome new members! We meet on Tuesdays 10 – 11.30am. Contact us for more information or visit our Facebook page.
