Choir Director

Laura works as a choir director and choral animateur, delivering projects from rehearsal to concert. She aims to bring out the best ensemble sound with happy, cohesive singers.

There's a tradition of choir conducting in her family [her father conducts a Welsh male voice choir, and her grandad conducted too] Amateur choirs and singing groups at Performing Arts Colleges, companies and schools have called on her services for nearly twenty years.

She currently works as a conductor for the SC Choirs Outreach programme and as choral animateur for MusicShare.

She founded the a cappella group 'Everything but the Diva' in 2016, a blend of professional and amateur singers who sing for charity in the North Birmingham area.

SINGING AND WELL-BEING

Laura has always been fascinated by the link between singing in a group and good mental health. In October 2019 she kickstarted a community choir to create great musical standards while focusing on enhancing well-being.

Sutton Songsters in North Birmingham sing songs from pop to Classical, gospel to jazz. On 1st December 2020 the choir launched its first single Love Shone Down for Shelter and Shelter Cymru, remotely recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic.
